There have, to date, been more than 20 documentaries made as part of this upbeat personal biography strand, celebrating widely loved subjects as diverse as Graham Norton and Adele, Michael McIntyre and Bruce Forsyth, Paul O’Grady and Andre Rieu – as well as a handful which picked up on pop cultural phenomena – such as the Mamma Mia, Strictly Come Dancing and Grease Stor(ies).
The Home Alone Story
A late addition to the story... strand was this festive one-off – marking, incredibly, thirty years since the release of John Hughes’s monster hit movie, about a young boy accidentally left behind by his family when they depart in hurried confusion for a festive flight from Chicago to Paris. Few at the time could foresee the massive cultural phenomenon which this hilarious, if sometimes actually quite moving, comedy would become – spawning numerous sequels and making an international child-star out of Macaulay Culkin. Even fewer know quite how troubled the production was, or how very close it was to being shelved forever…
13 Moments That...
These probing biographical, feature-length documentaries told the stories of towering but troubled or tragic superstar talents – Whitney Houston, Amy Winehouse, Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson. Using archive footage and interviews with some-time friends, colleagues, fans, psychologists – and journalists who chronicled their lives and careers – we journey through the chain of key moments and turns, some right, but some catastrophically wrong, that led to huge success, but also, ultimately, towards the lamentable ends of their complex stories.
….30 GREATEST MOMENTS
